Welcome to Synk’maa, the Dark Realm

Synk’maa is a dark fantasy tabletop role-playing game based on, but not tied to, Mörk Borg, expanding and exploring ever further. In some sense, Synk’maa could be seen as an unofficial expansion pack for Mörk Borg, but we aim to get deeper than that with a built world of our own. Synk’maa draws inspiration from such media as Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu, Plastiboo’s Vermis, Dark Souls and Final Fantasy franchises, as well as manga like Berserk and Dorohedoro.

In short, storywise, Synk’maa is a cruel world abandoned by its creator and deities, ruled by scheming royals and psychopathic nobles, inhabited by bloodthirsty warriors and fanatically religious mages, roamed by gruesome beasts and atrocious monsters. In Synk’maa, people are more or less used to creatures familiar from common folklore and old tales, yet there are unseen horrors to witness, shattering the already fragile minds of men into pieces. In Synk’maa, death doesn’t mean that much, but people are still clinging to their lives as if it would make a difference.

This site works as the ever-growing and expanding archives of content related to Synk’maa, be it game mechanics, lore, character classes or bestiary entries. Currently, we are working on a physical core book, as well as a set of adventures, forming a complete campaign. These will be available on itch.io as soon as possible, so keep an eye on our page there for print-ready content; synkmaattrpg.itch.io. You may also reach us on Instagram as @synkmaattrpg.

Synk’maa is a work of passion and dedication, born from an everlasting love for tabletop gaming and fantasy. We hope that our enthusiasm shines through our craft and everyone exploring the world of Synk’maa could feel that devotion and excitement.
